About RugbyNY

RugbyNY was formed in 2010 by youth and high school rugby programs in the former NYS Rugby Conference, Met NY Rugby Union and Capital District Youth Rugby.


RugbyNY is a USA Rugby recognized State Youth Rugby Organization (SYRO). 


We are part of USA Youth & High School Rugby's Northeast region and are the governing body for youth and high school rugby in the state of New York.


What We Do

Our mission is simple: To teach the concepts of fair play, sportsmanship, camaraderie, and teamwork to boys and girls in grades K-12 across New York State through the sport of rugby.

In support of our mission, we sponsor these competitions and events each year:

  • Boys & Girls High School Leagues (15's and Sevens)

  • NY State Rugby Championships

  • Youth Tackle Rugby

  • Youth Touch / Flag Rugby

  • Boys & Girls Age Grade Select Sides

  • Player Development Opportunities

Our teams play high school rugby, middle school tackle rugby, youth tackle, and youth touch / flag rugby with playing opportunities for boys and girls from grades K thru 12.

How We Work

RugbyNY is the trade name of Youth Rugby NY, Inc. , recognized by the New York State Department of State as a not-for-profit corporation and by the IRS as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

RugbyNY's day to day operations and strategic direction are governed by a nine member board of directors.


Four directors serve as our executive officers, the other five directors represent different regions across the state of New York.
